Founded by Sir George Dunbar under the watchful eye of James Braid, here are 18 holes of rare natural beauty running along Sinclair's Bay and surrounded by five coastal castles. This is true links of natural grasses, contours, finely shaped bunkers and fast fescued greens. Protected from sea breezes you will be accompanied by curlew and peewit, skylarks and skeins of wild geese. Wild flowers of rarity and beauty surround each hole.
The club boasts a £250,000 clubhouse opened in 1994. It is looked upon as one of the best in the north, offering warm hospitality and spectacular views over the course and coastline beyond
There are few bunkers on the course, but crafty use of ditches and some gentle doglegs makes the round very rewarding. Past captain John Hunter recommends two holes in particular; the fifth and the twelfth. The fifth hole measures 423 yards with a ditch crossing the fairway 250 yards from the tee. The twelfth is over 400 yards in length with the drive being the important shot to set up a second shot to the green. A narrow entrance to a bunker looms on the right and a protruding mound on the left.
