Day 1-3
Inverness is the start point for the tour, a mix of the famous, the old & the new are close at hand. On the second day strike out on the coastal road into the North Highlands. Distilleries, migrating salmon, golf, historic houses and internationally renowned designers guide your way before arriving to a warm welcome at Forss House on Day 3.
Days 4, 5 & 6
The choice is yours while you are at Forss, so much to choose from you can only hope to scratch the surface.
Explore on foot or by bike; Short walks to Hikes with cycle routes on road or through the forrests. Wildlife at every turn on the land and sea. A rich history & culture spanning from the ice age to modern day surrounds you with Archeological Trails to Royal Homes to Heritage Centres dedicated to the way of life & people of the North Highlands and then just beyond the mainland the Orkney Islands beckon. Traditional country sports and golf sit alongside off-roading, quad bikes and white water rides with Beauty treatments & Massage close by.
Day 7 & 8
Wave goodbye to Forss House and head south down the West coast towards Ullapool. A very different landscape with sea bird colonies, remote gardens and Scotland’s first UNESCO Geopark to explore.
As you get to Ullapool try the Ceilidh Place for an overnight stop that offers a true taste of local culture and hospitality. Then on the last day finish the journey to Inverness or maybe stay a while longer to explore more of the Highlands & Islands.
Our thanks to Scottish Natural Heritage for pictures of Handa Island, Inchndampf and Knockan Crag.
