The local coastline and hills make for some excellent walking for everyone from the serious walker to the gentle ambler.

To get the very best out of the 'rich' landscape of Caithness & Sutherland we'd suggest you join one of the many guided walks organised by the Ranger Service. A varied schedule of walks runs all year round.

For more details contact the Ranger Service on 01549 402638 between 13.00 & 17.00 or email ian.paterson@highland.gov.uk

It is advisable to book your space on the guided walks as numbers are limited. Or if you prefer to explore on your own then the Ranger service will be very happy to give you advice on the walks that will suit your own requirements.

Some walks require a certain level of fitness so please do check with the Rangers. Dress appropriately. Suntan lotion, waterproofs and stout shoes are recommended. Do take something to drink and a snack just in case and if you are hoping to get close to the wildlife we do suggest you wear dull coloured clothing so you see them before they see you! If you have your dog with you sadly they are not allowed on guided walks and if you choose to walk without a guide please keep your dog under control at all times.
