Visit the Orkney Islands

Travelling across to the Orkney Islands is incredibly popular with our guests here at Forss.

Hop on a ferry and you can be exploring the wonders of Orkney in as little as 60 minutes.

There are two main ferry operators which you can use to sail over to Orkney...

NorthLink Ferries sail between Scrabster (near Thurso) and Stromness - 90 minute crossing.

Scrabster Ferry Terminal is a 10 minute (approx) drive from Forss House Hotel.

Pentland Ferries sail between Gill's Bay (near John o'Groats) and St Margaret's Hope in South Ronaldsay - 60 minute crossing.

Gill's Bay Ferry Terminal is a 30 minute (approx) drive from Forss House Hotel.

Overnight Trips

If you're planning to spend a little longer exploring Orkney, why not stop over in our newly refurbished sister hotel, 'The Kirkwall'?

The Kirkwall is situated in the heart of the historic town of Kirkwall and is one of Orkney's finest Victorian buildings. With a relaxed urban feel to your stay, The Kirkwall is the perfect hub to explore eveything Orkney has to offer.

The hotel is only a hop, skip and a jump away from the marina and the main shopping centre, as well as many must-see historic landscapes and buildings. There's oodles to do and see right on your doorstep.
